Madaba Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeMadaba is just 30 km south of
Amman. It's a perfect
daytrip. Madaba has some stunninly beautiful Byzantine-era
mosaics, including the 'Madaba map', a 6th-century mosaic map of
Palestine.
You can see this mosaic in the Greek Orthodox St George's Church.
Most of Madaba is now a carefully restored Archaeological Park. The park is well worth a visit. It includes the churches of the Virgin and the Prophet Elias, that date back to the 7-thj century, and the older Hippolytus Hall with more spectacular mosaics.
