The easiest way of understanding Aqaba’s exceptional history is visiting the Archaeological Museum. The museum has become a conservatory, housing some of the rarest, most historic coins from different parts of Middle East. Some of the exhibits inside the museum date back to the 8th century. Many stones on display here have a religious significance. Most of these sacred exhibits are from the Byzantine era. The museum is perhaps the most dependable resource for understanding the Arab Revolt. However, the most revered exhibit here is the ‘Ayat al-Kursi.’ This is essentially a remnant of the actual spot where the Holy Quran was conceived.
