Aqaba transportation is not as efficient as it is in other parts of the world. You will still find that it is fairly easy to get around while in Aqaba.

Taxis

Traveling by taxi is one of the main methods of transportation in Aqaba. Keep in mind that you will have to find a taxi on the street. The taxis in Aqaba do not offer a dial-up service. If want the option of being able to call a taxi when you need it make sure to take down the number of a driver. All drivers work independently.  Taxis are fairly inexpensive in Aqaba. Prior to getting in the taxi tell the driver where you are headed and ask for the price. Feel free to negotiate on the price. You can also hire taxis for the whole day but make sure to negotiate a price prior to hiring a driver.

Bus

The bus system in Aqaba is another great way to get around. Keep in mind that the buses do not keep a set schedule. Once the bus is full it will leave. If you get lost while using the bus do not panic, all of the buses head back to the main bus station. If you are traveling alone do not sit next to someone of the opposite sex. When you want to get off the bus knock on the window with a coin to alert the bus driver. You should also be aware that smoking is allowed on the buses.
