Budget Traveling to Aqaba is Possible

This Aqaba budget travel guide will help you plan and enjoy a vacation without spending too much money. Aqaba is a luxurious resort, but this does not mean you cannot visit on a tight budget. In fact, you can cut your expenses just by being aware of some important facts and details.

When to Go

As in every resort, the local establishments in Aqaba increase their prices drastically during certain periods of the tourist season. Aqaba is usually suitable for a visit from May to November. Some of the months you should avoid due to high prices are September and November, when important Muslim feasts like Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha take place. To get lower prices, you can either visit Aqaba in the beginning of the tourist season or during Ramadan in August.

Budget Transport

Aqaba is accessible by air, water and land. Most tourists who visit the city usually count on car rentals to get into Aqaba. However, this is not the best choice for your budget. If you want to save some money, use the public buses. There are two reliable bus companies which operate well-maintained buses in Jordan. Those are Trust International Transport and JETT Buses. The prices are affordable. For example, a ticket from Amman to Aqaba will cost you less than $6 in summer 2010.

Budget Accommodation

Aqaba is well-known for its classy and expensive hotels. You may end up spending over $200 nightly if you decide to stay at one of the 4-star and 5-star hotels. However, there are alternatives which will allow you to spare your budget. You might consider staying either at the Dweik Hotel or at the Al-Cazar Hotel. Both hotels are very good, although only rated with 2 stars, and offer excellent accommodation, with rates starting at $30.

Where to Eat

A good thing about Aqaba is its many lovely little restaurants, offering delicious meals at low prices. You can eat for as low as $10 without limiting yourself in your orders. Most of these restaurants are concentrated right next to the public beach. They offer local cuisine but also prepare hamburgers and the famous local falafel. The best thing about all these places is their menus are in English, so you will not have any problems in placing your orders.
