Books
Edit ThisWhen you have been outside in the world, and seen a lot of bookshops you become envious when you come to Amman because you can't compare!
However things are changing. There are today some good books here and there, in Shmeisani, Jabal Amman, in Mecca Mall or the famous hunts of Book@Cafe . I know, you are saying by now you can count then on your hand.
But its tough in the end isn't it. However, you still can look for and buy books in Amman, at old books and the odd bookshops. The interesting thing as well here in the downtown you can buy second hand books.
If you take your time, sift through the books, and don't mind getting your hands dirty, you can buy cheap good books for the fraction of prices, you buy elsewhere
Two things people tell me about Jordanians: That they don't read, (or they don't read enough) and that the many Iraqis that exist in the country at the moment can't get enough of books and devour them as if they are eating food.
Maybe this development means that the fortunes of local sellers can start turning around who complain that nobody reads now-a-days, Jordanian that is.
