The Eucalyptus

The Eucalyptus
The Restaurant is one of the true culinary gems not only of Israel, but of all the places I have encountered on my world travels. The Chef and his son are both famous chefs who have won many international cooking awards for Israel. The restaurant provides its guests with an interactive dinner that helps them understand the ingredients that created their food and their history with the land from the time of the bible to the modern history of Israel. I recommend to those who have never eaten at the Eucalyptus or might not have the opportunity to return to take the ten course tasting menu. It runs for about 200NIS, but come hungry, because you will be served succulent after succulent dish. A few of my favorite are the trio of soups, the figs stuffed with chicken covered in tamarind sauce, the lamb moist and tender lamb neck cooked on low heat overnight in the oven, the smoked eggplant with Tehini and aged pomegranate sauce, the Maglubeh, and the Almond cream dessert, and the Basbusa dessert.
This is truly a one of a kind culinary experience.
The restaurant also has a private wine cellar with an incredible selection of Israeli wines. I recommend the teperberg cabernet sauvignon 2007, or if you are willing to spend a little more the Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon Special Reserve 1997.
Also, from the roof terrace there is one of the most incredible views of the David Citadel, which is best at night.
*Be sure to make a reservation, because spaces fill up quickly everyday of the week. Also, if you are going to order the tasting menu or order wine it also helps to tell them in advance.
The restaurant is a Glatt Kosher Meat Restaurant
