Tehran is the capital of Iran, and is the largest and most populous city in Iran. It is a highly urbanized city, but it also has interesting sites and ancient architecture that will excite a lot of sightseeing tourists. Thus, here are some of the important practical information tips that you need to know about Tehran.
Tehran Safety
Tehran is the safest city in Iran. However, there are also incidences of pickpockets, especially on busy streets, so it is important that you always become cautious with your surroundings. To be safe in Tehran, you need to make sure that you never take unmarked taxis, especially late in the evening, as there are some criminals who use taxi as their front to do crimes. The traffic in Tehran is also very dangerous thus it is important not to cross the street without crossing the right pedestrian lane or with the assistance of traffic police.
Entry Requirements
Entry to Tehran means that you need to get a valid visa and passport and, unfortunately, there is no exception to the rule. Moreover, nationals who hold passports containing visa either valid or expired for Israel will be refused entry from Tehran under all situations due to the hostility of both countries since the beginning of the Pahlavi dynasty. All applicants for visa will be interviewed and if you arrive for the interview wearing immodest clothes, you will be refused entry to Tehran.
