There are a number of Troodos Mountains must do’s that you can check out to enjoy the beauty and splendor of the place in the most complete way possible.

1. Enjoy Mount Olympus

Mount Olympus is 1,952 meters tall, and is the highest point in Cyprus. The mount has a special place in Greek mythology, and is thus a tourist attraction. There is a British radar station at its top. This place turns into a skiing area during winter. At the highest point on the eastern side, you can see Africa. Children will find the Mount Olympus Theme Park particularly interesting, but this place can also appeal to adventure lovers of any age because of the many thrilling rides they have. Ticket prices for the amusement park range from $19 to $34.95 (depending upon the theme).

2. Watch Wine Making at the Nelion Winery

This is an interesting place where small groups of visitors can learn the wine making process. The first set of wine was bottled relatively recently, in 1996. Take a look at the various artifacts that were handed down from earlier generations of local wine makers. The Nelion Winery is open to visitors from 10:00AM to 7:00PM during summers and till about 5:00PM in winters. 

3. Visit the Kykkos Monastery

The monastery lies in the Kykkos Valley. It houses the architectural marvels of the Troodos Mountains. You need to dress conservatively here, but they have made arrangements for you to rent scarfs and robes at the entrance in case your clothing is not suitable. Free accommodation is provided to visitors of the monastery. The monks will show you around and explain the significance of the monastery in history. Photography is prohibited.

4. See the Tomb of Archbishop Makarios III

Cyprus’s first president was Archbishop Makarios III, after whose name the tomb was constructed. The view from the tomb is breathtaking. It is situated in Throni, 3km from Kykkos Monastery where the Archbishop had served. You can find dense pine forest here. Take photographs and enjoy the view of the forest from here.

5. Take a Tour through the Villages, especially Omodos

The villages in the Troodos Mountains are calm and beautiful. This is especially true for Omodos, the highest village in Cyprus. It is a small place with two village main streets. You can buy refreshments or souvenirs here. Locally handmade cloth and handicrafts are the main attractions. Omodos is 22km away from Troodos, so you need to take a car to reach the place.
