The capital of Cyprus offers a wide choice of hotels of all classes, but only one apartment hotel (Lordos, 18 Sina Street, Engomi, Tel. 02 - 441 039). We split the hotels into three categories:

nicosia/sleep cheap: camping, youth hotels, cheap hotels

nicosia/middle class: hotels with some comfort and rooms including bathrooms and toilets.

nicosia/first class: hotels of high standard, mostly with suites and elegant standards.

Although Nicosia is off the major tourist paths, visitors will still find a great selection of accommodation that will suite a wide variety of budgets. Everything from the major international hotel chains all the way down to the budget backpacker is available in Nicosia Hotels.

High End Luxury Hotels

For those that enjoy the comfort of home and the quality that usually goes with well known luxury hotels, Nicosia will not disappoint. There are several top of the line hotels to choose from that offer a wide range of amenities. The Hilton hotel chain has a wonderful facility near the center of Nicosia. Prices will alter with the time of year, but on average, visitors can expect to pay 200 dollars per night or more. In exchange for the cost, guests will be treated with a seemingly endless supply of amenities. The Holiday Inn is also available for nearly the same cost and offers nearly the same quality and number of amenities with their rooms.

Mid- Range Hotels

Nicosia has plenty of moderately priced hotels for those that cannot afford or just do not desire the high end hotels. The Almond Business Hotel is an excellent option. Rooms start at about 150 dollars per night. The rooms are spacious rivaling some of the top end hotels in terms of size. The service is top quality and the location is perfect. It is close to the center of town but still on one of the quieter streets in the city. The rooms are also equipped with their own kitchens so long stays are made far easier. The Centrum Hotel is also another suitable, mid-ranged hotel. The rooms start from about 120 dollars per night. The rooms are clean and spacious as well. The Centrum hotel can get rather noisy due to the fact it is located near the equivalent of Nicosia's red light district.

Budget Hotels

There are a few budget hotels in Nicosia that are very reasonably priced. However, they are basic to the core. The Averof Hotel is one possibility offering rooms from about 70 dollars per night. It has a good atmosphere and a friendly, helpful staff. The elevator, however, is frequently broken, so be prepared to climb a few flights of stairs during your stay. Another option is the Cleopatra Hotel. Rooms start at about 30 dollars per night, but the hotel is very basic. It advertises itself at a 3-4 star facility when in truth it would be lucky to earn 2 on most scales. Positive aspects are the rooms are very clean, the food is good and so is the restaurant. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. Negative aspects are the room sizes and the lack of facilities.
