Kition Archaeological Site

Edit This
Archaelogical digs prove that Kition was founded by Mycenean traders in the 13th century BC, destroyed toward the end of that century and rebuilt by a new wave of Aegean immigrants. The Phoenicians conquered the town in the late 9th century BC and tried from here to invade the island.

This is one of the most important historic sites. Five temples of the 13th and 12th century BC were unearthed, along with traces of a number of other structures. The site is open Mon - Fri from 7.30am to 2.30pm, Thu from 3-6pm. Entrance fee.
