Family Travel Ideas in Cyprus
Edit ThisAyia Napa is a superb family destination laden with beautiful sandy
beaches and plenty of activities for an active family vacation. Though
the city is well known as a party destination, it also has a long
history as a great spot for water sports, including skiing, windsurfing,
canoeing, boating and scuba diving.
The beaches in Ayia Napa are not only beautiful with white sand, but
also have received a EU blue flag because of their facilities and
cleanliness. Nissi Beach is a popular hang out for teenagers and young
adults and is always lively with activity, though if you have younger
children, Harbor Beach is the most suitable and more relaxing. The New
Golden Bay is also a great beach to check out and is also less crowded
and has lots of water sports available. Hotels and independent shops on
and near the beach can help with arranging any water sports that your
family is interested in.
There are a number of museums in Ayia Napa that are perfect to visit
on a family vacation. The Tornaritis - Pierides Museum of Marine Life,
located in the lower level of town hall features the marine fauna of
Cyprus and stresses marine environment preservation. Thalassa also is
dedication to marine heritage dating from the prehistoric times to
present day.
Another notable attraction on the island is the
Makronissos Tombs lying just west of Ayia Napa in Makronissos. Located
on a stepped road, this ancient burial site is an interesting look into
the historical roots of the area.
Ayia Napa is a great adventure escape for your family. If you want a laid back and relaxing vacation, this is the place to go.
The center of the town, The Square, is home to Ayia Napa's wealth of
nightclubs, as well as the bulk of the city's restaurants and shopping.
Featuring a mix of international and Greek fare, this is the place to
dine and find some one-of-a-kind souvenirs.
Cape Greco is just a quick 10 minute drive from the Ayia Napa's central area and is often thought to be the most pristine and beautiful places on the island. Here you can have some great views, try cliff jumping and do a variety of other athletic, adventure and sightseeing activities. This is a great spot to enjoy some time away from watersports and have a nice adventure with your family.
