Shopping in Ayia napa
Edit ThisIf you are visiting Ayia Napa and love to shop, you may have found your paradise. This small island paradise packs a serious punch when it comes to shopping for designer goods and local handicrafts alike. Tourists can take a break from beachcombing and partying to explore some of the great deals available throughout Ayia Napa and beyond and they will be happy that they did.
Designer Goods in Ayia Napa
If you enjoy buying designer goods, Ayia Napa is the place to be. Here you can score clothing, jewelry, watches and sunglasses from all the top designers at prices that are generally 30 percent lower than those available in the United Kingdom. Electronics such as cameras are also available at good prices. Nissi Avenue is a great place to start for designer clothing and jewelry shopping. Cool Watches, Andrews Jewellery and Laniel Jewellery are some well-known shops located in the city's center that can get you started on seeing the goods that Ayia Napa has to offer.
Handicrafts in Ayia NapaAyia Napa is known throughout the region for its exquisite handicrafts. Some popular items include Lefkara lace, handmade ceramic pottery, hand woven baskets, silver jewelry, olive oil, wine, silk and woven goods and leather. Items are modestly priced and of high quality. The government has created the Cyprus Handicraft Service to recognize and promote official handicraft shops, although both official and unofficial shops compete and sell the similar, if not the same, goods.
Where to ShopThe best place to shop in Ayia Napa is in the city's center known as The Square. Here amidst the nightclubs and restaurants is a bustling shopping scene intertwined throughout the central area. Nissi Avenue and St. Makariou Avenue are 2 main streets to start with.
Most shops and boutiques in the city are quaint and friendly and remain open until 11 p. m. throughout the week, with the exception of Sunday where they close early. Credit cards are widely accepted throughout the island.
Be sure to take a break from your holiday plans to set a little time aside for shopping. If nothing else, pick up some local handicrafts to help support the community and to remember your trip for years to come.
