Senior Travel in Ayia napa
Edit ThisSenior Activities
For anyone traveling to Ayia Napa the main destination is the beach. With some of the most pristine beaches in Europe, it is no wonder that travelers flock here. All the beaches in the city have received the EU blue flag, an award designed to highlight the level of cleanliness and amount of facilities available here. While Nissi Beach is one of the most popular beaches in town, seniors may enjoy the more laid back and family friendly Harbour Beach or New Golden Bay. Active seniors will enjoy the wealth of water sports possibilities here, including boating, scuba diving, canoeing and windsurfing. Check with your hotel or local tour guide to make arrangements for any of these watersports.
Cape Greco is a popular attraction when visiting Ayia Napa. Located just 10 minutes from Ayia Napa's center, this is a great place to visit for some great sightseeing, as well as many other activities.
There are a number of museums in Ayia Napa that can keep you busy
when not relaxing on the beach. The Tornaritis - Pierides Museum of
Marine Life and Thalassa are 2 of the most popular museums.
Tornaritis - Pierides features marine life throughout time, while
Thalassa is charged with the preservation, enhancement and promotion of
marine heritage in Cyprus. The nearby Makronsissos Tombs are also worth checking out. This ancient burial site gives a look
into the past burial practices of Cypriots.
Dining
The city's central area, The Square, is the nightlife center of Ayia
Napa. It is also the best place for dining and shopping, and seniors
visiting Ayia Napa will spend plenty of enjoyable evenings dining at
any number of fine restaurants featuring Cypriot and other
international cuisine. This is also a nice place to enjoy a walk in the
afternoon or early evening before the nightlife scene gets into full
swing.
Getting to Ayia Napa
Ayia Napa is easy to get to, adding to its value as a destination for seniors. It can be reached by car from Larnaca International Airport and is a 30 mile drive. There are taxis, buses and rental car companies that make getting there easy.
