Adventurous Options for Ipoh Day Trips

Visitors to Ipoh can feel assured about having numerous options for Ipoh day trips. Ipoh is among Malaysia’s largest cities. It is a popular tourist destination, known mainly for its sightseeing and culinary offerings. One of the eternal favorites among Ipoh day trips is visiting the limestone caves located along the outskirts of the city.

Gua Tempurung Limestone Caves

The popular cave complex is actually a part of the hills surrounding the city. These limestone hills are found along the northern and southern end of the city. The limestone hills have been exposed to underwater currents and other geographical forces for thousands of years. This is how a part of the hills have been shaped into exotic caves. Some of the caves have been converted into temples. Local guides take visitors along a 40-minute walking trail to see the more unreachable parts of the cave. Nothing can prepare visitors for the unbelievably gigantic spread of these caves, some with white marble walls. The more daring visitors can walk along the underground waterways and explore the deeper, pitch-black reaches.

Reaching Gua Tempurung

Gua Tempurung caves are located about 25 kilometers from Ipoh, near the town of Gopeng. There are many options for reaching the caves. Visitors may hire a taxi for the day to take them quickly through the Gopeng intersection. Those who like to drive themselves should search for Kampung Gunung Mesah along the connecting highway. A bit further from the connection along Federal Route 1 are signboards pointing towards the limestone caves.
