Anak Ranch of Mongolia

The life of the countryside and the wide open range of Mongolia can be experienced at the Anak Ranch.

The Anak Ranch is a working family ranch in the rugged steppe-taiga country of north-central Mongolia. Between the ranch and Siberia to the north are hills, cliffs, rivers, woods, and prairies.

Activities at the ranch include herding horses and goats and sheep and cattle, roping, milking, making cheese and airag (national drink of Mongolia, made from fermented milk), horse riding and trekking, feeding animals, cutting firewood, hiking, eating, sleeping, and relaxing. There is also a new sauna and barbeque. All accomodations are in traditional Mongolian gers (yurts).

A portion of all income of the Anak Ranch is donated to improving conditions at Gantskhudag Prison, the largest prison in Mongolia. In 2005, US$70,000 were raised and invested in digging a well and building a water main to the prison.

The Anak Ranch is located an overnight train ride from Ulaanbaatar, on the Orkhon River in Selenge province. The daily rate includes all meals, horse riding, and adventure.
