Top tourist destination are the beautiful Lake Khovsgol in the North, and of course the Gobi Desert to the South. Harder to reach places inculde the Altan Tavanbogd National Park in the Kazakh populated far West, well worth a visit.
Mongolia is a vast country with a poor infrastructure, and travel takes time, but to see this nomadic land, seemingly unchanged for centuries, is something more adventure travellers should put on their list.

Stepperiders
Edit ThisStepperiders is located just outside of Ulaanbaatar, great if you don't have the time to travel further into the countryside. There are a variety of 1 or 2 day horse treks to choose from, all based in and around the Bogdkhan Uul National Park. Basic accommodation is offered in a traditional Mongolian ger. Stepperiders is a English-Mongolian joint venture, so language won't be a problem.
