Ust-Kamenogorsk is also known as Oskemen in Russian, and it offers many Ust-Kamenogorsk sights. It is the capital city of East Kazakhstan province. Maxim Gorky Street
This is a must-visit street in Ust-Kamenogorsk and is named after a famous writer, Maxim Gorky. The street was earlier called the Fire bystreet, taking its name from the fire tower at the in the city square which rises above the city. This street has several shops where you can indulge in some shopping, and also has some fine residences of the rich in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Walk along the street while admiring the fine architecture. These buildings were homes to some of the richest people in the city, which after the revolution became the property of the government. Most of these houses today are art centers or museums.
