Columbia is officially known as Republic of Columbia and is located in the northwest of South America. Brazil and Venezuela lie toward the east, Peru and Ecuador to the south, the Caribbean Sea in the north and Panama and Pacific Ocean to the northwest and west, respectively. Colombia is a popular tourist destination for many people because of its natural beauty. The best time to visit Columbia is when it is not raining.
Air
You can reach Columbia by air which is comfortable and faster. Colombia is served by the El Dorado International Airport located 12 kilometers from the city. Taxis and buses are available to transport passengers to and from the airport. Several international airlines operate flights to Colombia. Some of them are American Airlines, Varig, Iberia and British Airways.
Water
Since Columbia is surrounded by sea from 3 sides it is very easy to reach the country by water. Several shipping companies operate cruise lines to Colombia. The main ports are Santa Marta, Cartagena, Turnaco, Buenaventura and Barranquilla. You can get on a cruise ship from the Caribbean Islands, U.S., Venezuela, Mexico and Central America to get to Colombia.
Road
Though there are roadways that lead to Colombia, the journey is long and tiring, but not impossible. There are buses that travel in and out of Colombia but if you are looking to get to Colombia to enjoy your holiday, traveling by bus is not a good idea. Additionally, you need to have proper visas and papers from your local embassy to travel by road into Colombia.
