1. Visit the Kalaout el-Koubba

The building was constructed during the end of 11th and beginning of 12th century. The most famous part of the Kalaout el-Koubba is its cupola. It is a museum that contains a lot of clues about how Tunisians lived during the Ottoman rule. It is located in Zue Zarrouk. It is open to the public Monday to Thursday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is also open on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There is an entrance fee of 2 Dinars and an additional charge of 1 Dinar if you take pictures.

2. Take a Tour of Medina City

Medina is a walled city within Sousse. It is an impressive place with an imposing feel to it. The city is enclosed by walls that are 25 feet high. The easiest way to reach Medina is from the Bab Jidad station. Taking a walking tour is best and allows you to take in all the sights that the city has to offer.

3. Check out the Old Ribat Watchtower

Ribat was originally part of monasteries series that was constructed in around A.D. 821 and was built to keep out invaders. The outer walls are 13 meters high and very thick. Climb the 27-meter watchtower to get a panoramic view of the entire city. There is a moderate entrance fee of 4 Dinars per person and a fee of 1 Dinar for camera permits. Ribat is located within Medina.

4. Stroll through the Avenue Des Catacombes

The city has a large number of catacombs that give an insight into the ancient Roman Catholics’ burial customs during the end of the third century. The catacombs extend to almost 5.5 km in length, out of which about 100 meters are open to the public. Some graves can also be seen through glass panes. Take a taxi from Medina to the catacombs, which are open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in summer and up to 5:00 p.m. in winter.

5. Enjoy at the Boujaffer Beach

The sun, sand, and shores of Sousse make an ideal picnic spot because of the warm weather and very little rain. Water-sports enthusiasts can choose among various activities like skiing, paragliding and wind surfing. Children will enjoy the beach and shallow waters.
