Getting Around in Hammamet
Edit ThisTraveling by Bus
The bus is a cheap way to travel around Hammamet. If you want to see the sites the bus will take you anywhere you want to go. The price is around 3 dinar, depending on you destination. Unfortunately there are no schedules for these buses--they simply depart when they are full. They really don’t look like buses though, they look more like a minivan. They will usually accommodate 6 to 8 people. It does get hot in these buses and they do not have air conditioners, so go prepared. They are cheaper and more efficient then the transportation methods recommended by the hotel.
Traveling by Taxi
There are taxis in Hammamet that will take you anywhere you want to go. The prices of course differ on where you want to go to. If you take a yellow taxi there is a counter that will let you know how much you owe. It averages about 4 dinar for every 3 miles. The yellow taxis will also negotiate prices if you are willing to haggle. Just be careful they don’t try to over charge you.
Traveling by Mini Train
Mini trains will go from the hotels to the city center. It costs 2.5 dinar per person so it can be cheap unless you have a large group. The mini trains are motor powered so you don’t have to worry about following the tracks, they will use the same route as regular vehicles. It is a great way to see the city and experience some of the culture at the same time.
