Accommodation in Kassala

As the honeymoon capital of Sudan, Kassala has many hotels. The best two are generally considered to be Hotel Hipton and Hotel Telal ash-Sharq, both costing around 3000SD a room (2004). Cheaper options include the Hotel Basha'ir and Hotel Safa in the same area, and Hotels Riyadh, Medina and Africa close to the market on the "Street of a Thousand Thieves". There are also several basic lacondas, mainly filled with workers from other parts of Sudan, but sometimes the security police aren't keen on allowing foreign visitors to stay in them.
