Sunset at Hibberdene

Graham Steyn

Other than phenomenal beaches covering the whole of the South Coast (of which 5 have Blue Flag status) things to do abound from trips to the hinterland, visits to coffee or tea plantations, adventure activities in the Oribi Gorge, game drives at the Vernon Crookes Nature reserve near Umzinto or Lake Eland near Port Shepstone.

For a morning outing there is the Banana Express, a narrow gauge train which runs from Port Shepstone to Paddock on most days. Bookings and further detail can be obtained from the visitors information bureau at Shelly Centre Mall at Shelly Beach. In fact this facility is great for local knowledge on a variety of things to do and see so pay them a visit regardless.

Excellent golf courses exist down the entire length of the coast and any golfer will find them to be of world class standard.

Retaurants are plentiful as are places to stay and you merely need to explore www.wheretostay.co.za to find something to suit you.
