Kempton Park is a city 11 kilometers north-east of South Africa's biggest city and financial hub, Johannesburg, and falls within the Ekurhuleni Municipality formerly known as the 'East Rand'. This city is a reletively small city with a mixed population estimated at somewhere between 400 000 and 800 000 people. It is mainly a residential city with a strong industrial centre in the districts of Isando, Spartan and Pomona. Due to the city's close proximity to Johannesburg and reasonable proximity to the Capital city Pretoria, it is the logical choice to host the Johannesburg International Airport. This often means that tourists first encountres with South Africa is the city of Kempton Park. Due to the Airpot and the Precinct that surrounds it, the city boasts a world class Casino in Emperor's Palace (Formerly Caesars Palace), with conferencing fascilities and 3 hotels (of which one is a 5 star) and a several other international brands of hotels. The city itself is laid back and dominated by middle class inhabitants of all creeds. It is the mixture of a modern metropolis and the privacy and intimacy of a small town.
