A Johannesburg itinerary will take you on a tour around South Africa's largest city. This city is full of beautiful places and site worth your visit and relaxation.
Day 1 - Johannesburg Botanical Garden
This beautiful amusement park is found in Emmarentia and should be your first place to visit on your Johannesburg itinerary. Here you will have the opportunity to see a dam inside the garden and thousands of roses of every kind and color. There are many places within the garden that you will enjoy like. The garden has an island with birds, picnic space, a pet walking area, a tree and flower nursery, an herbal garden and an environment center.
Day 2 - Johannesburg Museums
Make a point of visiting the various museums in the city. Johannesburg Art Gallery is the place to see artists' work. There is also the Hector Pieterson Museum right next to Nelson Mandela's former house which is also a museum. From here you can go to Museum Africa which has a lot of art made from rock and exhibits explaining the city's history.
Day 3 - Gold Reef City
Another Johannesburg visit should include Gold Reef City, an amazing park where you will find so many things to do. Visit the gold mining museum to learn about mining. Go for exhilarating rides on roller coasters. The Apartheid Museum will give a tour about the apartheid era. There are game rooms, a 4D movie theater and a casino. You will wonder how the day ended so fast.
Day 4 - Hartbeespoort Dam
This park will give you the opportunity to see all kinds of reptiles found in the south of Africa. There are live shows performed by seals and snakes. Various species of wild animals are also found in the zoo. You will see many types of the cat family here. Endangered species are also reared here.
Day 5 - Cradle of Humankind
Found in Gauteng province, these caves have fossils of all kinds of the great apes and plants. Here you will be able to learn how man evolved. You will be able to visit numerous caves like Stekfontein cave which also has a museum with ancient remains. Swartkrans cave, one of many caves in the area, exhibits tools made from stones and bones.
Day 6 - Montecasino
A Johannesburg itinerary without fun is not an option. You will wonder if you are in Las Vegas because casinos, shopping and amusement centers are all around the city. There is also a replica Tuscan village there. After having some fun, go to Pietor Toerien Theater and enjoy a show.
Day 7 - Shopping
You should not leave Johannesburg without purchasing some souvenirs like handicrafts and South African art from Bruma Lake Market. Head to Bryanston organic market and get all kinds of food and fresh produce.
