La Casa Nostra

One of the best Italian trattoria's in the country. Locals try to keep it a secret! Checked tablecloths, cold beer, Food cooked according to family recipes, great service and personal attention from Alessandro, make for a great meal. the Pasta should be world famous. You can't book, so get there early.  It's also just a slow waddle from the beach after lunch. They're closed Mondays.

Beanbag Bohemia

One of the places to be seen in Durbs. Open late at weekends too. Substantial meals upstairs. Try the Zulu Sushi! Tasty snacks downstairs. Art for sale on the walls.

Roma Revolving

One of the only revolving restaurants in the world, this restaurant serves delicious Italian food.  They also offer some more unusual dishes such as crocodile steak!

They have one of those old fashioned sweet carts which is filled with divine desserts.  By South African standards this restaurant is considered to be on the pricey side but I went out with 8 people, all drinking alcohol and paid around GBP£80 including the tip!!!

My family have been going to this restaurant for years - in fact the owner was my mum's first boyfriend!!

Grillroomcafe

A laid-back, trendy spot with a varied menu, good wine list and excellent service. The food is fresh and tasty and even the toasted sandwiches offer interesting options. Tables spill on to the pavement and overlook the gardens of Mitchell Park. (Great place to people watch, too.)

AKA

A very versatile place - a leisurely breakfast, a late-night cup of Lavazza coffee or three-course meal (and don't forget the small but well-selected wine list), they serve it all. Just about everything on the menu is available as a takeout as well. The diverse menu utilises unlikely combinations to delicious effect and covers everything from Bovril toast to sushi, from game bangers to soup.

Bargo

The owners are after the contemporary, vibey crowd and have come up with the right formula. (The cowhide panels on the aluminium bar are particularly funky.) It's a great place to go with a group of friends but, seeing as the night gets progressively louder, don't expect to pop in late for an intimate meal with your beloved.
