Things to do in Cape Town
Edit ThisThe Cape Town Things to Do list seems unending, so exhaustive is the range of recreational activities that can be pursued in this exotic South African city. Cape Town offers both, indoor and outdoor activities. Further, the city has witnessed international visitors for many years and hence, it is able to play the perfect host. There are many things that a visitor can explore, including:
Exploring Classical Music & Theater
If you are into classical music, Cape Town has lots to offer, including the famous local theaters like Artscape and the Baxter Theater. These theaters constantly showcase the best in operas, ballets and other forms of orchestrated performances. Some orchestras like the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra have become a perennial hit with the classically-inclined crowd. Further, the Cape Town Orchestra also offers the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens that are ideal for spending a lazy afternoon in the company of other music aficionados and locals who often picnic here. Sundays are particularly busy at the Twilight Concerts that are held during the evening at the Cape Town Orchestra. Not as popular but equally delightful is the St. George's Cathedral Choir. There is no entry fee at the Cathedral. Those wanting to see the native performance artists should visit the Oude Libertas Open Air Theater, located at Stellenbosch.
Exploring Art
Cape Town has some of the best galleries that showcase contemporary and historic art. Many classic collections like that of William Fehr are permanently featured in the art gallery of Cape of Good Hope Castle.
Exploring Outdoor Activities in Cape Town
Those who are physically-inclined and look forward to an adrenaline rush should explore the vast range of adventure sports and similar activities that are found in Cape Town. The city has a serious sporting background and there is no dearth of sport enthusiasts. As a result, the range of outdoor activities worth mentioning is extensive, including:
- Bungee-jumping - The professional bungee set-up at the Western Cape offers some of South Africa’s highest bungee zones. Other high-jump zones are along the Bloukrans, near the Garden Route. These zones are equally-suited to novice jumpers as the entire set-up professionally-handled.
- Watersports—Canoeing & Rafting - White-water sporting events are very popular in Cape Town. The white-water rivers provide the ideal opportunity for watersport-lovers to test their rafting or canoeing skills. Even first-time rafters can explore the slightly placid parts of river by taking part in an organized trip. The most popular zones for such activities include the Orange River coast, the area around the harbors of Breede and Berg, along with some trips that are arranged from Dorings.

Cape Peninsula National Park
Edit ThisThe CPNP is a small but beautiful nature reserve right on the tip of the Cape Peninsula. This small area has one of the worlds highest densities in plant species. It is home to 2,285 plant species (by comparison, the British Isles have 1,492 species). There are large areas covered in fynbos (fine bush, characterised by proteas, grasses and erica), patches of grassland, strandveld (hardy beach vegetation) and evergreen forest.
Apart from the many plants and flowers, there is also a fair amount of wildlife to bee seen. Baboons, ostriches, different types of bok and otters still more..
