Edit ThisThe Mountain of Gorillas
Edit ThisHere you will hike and find beautifull gorillas. It is so cool to get up to a gorilla and talk to it. They have a very cool life. They hate pochers so don't go visit the gorillas with a pocher.
You can spend an hour with the gorillas and although expensive, it's definitely worth it. They are amazing.

Nyungwe Forest
Edit ThisHead South to Nyungwe Forest, between Gikongoro and Cyangugu. You can get guided walks of varying length, though some require real fitness! The forest is home to Colobus monkeys, Chimpanzees and many other species. Even if you don't get to see any, the forest is still well worth a visit.

Murambi Genocide Memorial
Edit ThisOne of the most disturbing of the genocide memorials, you will leave this place sick to the stomach at what we in the West stood back and let happen in 1994. It is off a track near Gikongoro town centre in the south, and can be reached by vehicle or on bicycle taxi. People will point you in the right direction as they are used to tourists going that way.
Bodies have been removed from mass graves, preserved and put on show in the classrooms of an old technical school where tens of thousands were massacred. It is a chilling eye-opener for the tourist and more..

Akagera National Park
Edit ThisHead East from Kigali to find one of the cheapest and less well-known wildlife parks of East Africa. Not quite the big five, but if you're lucky and go early in the day, you could see Elephants, Hippo, Zebra, Giraffe, Antelope, Baboon, etc. Worth a visit in dry season.
