Tours to the desert and mountains are readily available in Agadez. You just have to find the right group of people and the right guides. There are basically three options. Either you book a tour ahead, that is in the US or (better) France, or you book one here. The last option is to arrange everything by yourself, which can be done. BE sure to hire a good 4WD, get a knowledgable guide and the right government permission.

They have proved to be very reliable and at the end of the day the cheapest alternative in Agadez.
