Getting Around

Edit This
Windhoek's city center is compact and as easy to get around on foot as by car-easier during morning and evening rush hours. The main car park is on Independence Avenue, next to the Tourist Information Center.

Radio Taxis, City Courier, and White Rhino Radio Taxis, are all reliable companies; the taxi rank is at the Grab a Phone bus terminal on Independence Avenue.

Getting out to Khomasdal and Katatura by minibus taxi costs a fraction of the price of a regular taxi. Minibuses leave from the big car park below Post Street Mall. However, security in the Katatura taxi ranks id dodgy; women should certainly not do it alone, nor even men after dark. If you are going to a nightclub in either place, take a taxi to the door.

Bikes are handy for those staying in Windhoek west or Klein Windhoek. Hire from Le Trip, at the shop 39 Wernhill Park, or African Cycles.
