Zombie Cucumber Backpackers

Zombie Cucumber is a great place to stay - just off the beach and close to the centre of town.  The colourful chalets are really comfortable and the dorm is light and airy - set in shady gardens, with a swimming pool and lots of space for relaxing.  The staff are really welcoming and the owner cooks fantastic food everynight - at last something different from fish and chips!  They help with organising trips to the islands and are clued up with all the local info and even provide a night guard to get you to the bus on time!  Definitely one of the best places I more..

Baobab Beach

Technically a backpackpackers' place, and camping and cheap beds in dormitories are available. There are also several gorgeous separate circular chalets, built from local materials (palm leaves/wood) which are absolutely idyllic. The setting, right down on the beach by an enormous Baobab Tree makes it one of the most beautiful and romantic cheap places to stay in the world. It's a 5-10 minute walk from the main street in the centre of Vilanculos, down towards the beach and along to the right - everyone knows where it is.

Good restaurant with local feel.

Try the Crab - Liev, Sofie, Oliver and Eugenio will allways welcome you.

All the other dishes are excellent.
