Nightlife and Entertainment in MaputoEdit This
Maputo nightlife is active and alive, especially on the weekends. You might not find as many bars and clubs in other parts of Mozambique as you would in Maputo. There are numerous clubs that offer varied music--from quintessential Mozambique beats and rhythms to the more popular western hip-hop and pop. So, if you’ve booked yourself at a hotel in Mozambique and have had a long day, head on over to Maputo to witness this city come alive by night.
If you’re looking to let loose and have some fun, Feira Popular is the place to be. This area is known for its bars and discos that are sure to keep you entertained all night long. Locals swear by Mambos- a nightclub that welcomes a younger crowd. CocoNuts Live is another popular nightclub that offers pulsating DJ music with occasional, live performances by well known artists. The Rua de Bagamoyo is otherwise known as the red light area of Maputo. It does have a few bars and strip clubs, but if this area isn’t to your liking, visit the Africa Bar, the Dolce Vita, the Gil Vicente or the Xima’s bar in and around Maputo. These are few highly recommended nightclubs.
If you want to relax over a couple of drinks and soft music, step into the jazz lounge located within the Central Train Station in Maputo. While these are some of the most popular nightclubs in Mozambique, there are several other things you ought to do during your stay here.
Night Time Entertainment
Mozambique is known for its spectacular beaches like the Catembe and the Ponta d’Ouro. You could just sit by the beach and enjoy its breathtaking view or if you’re in for some adventure, indulge in some scuba-diving near Ponta Malongane. But, if you’re an art buff, head straight to the Museu de Historia Natural or the National Art Museum that features several intricate pieces of art. You should also visit the Avenida Julius Nyerere to find restaurants, shops and vendors selling traditional artifacts. You’ll find plenty of traditional African fabrics, carved wooden objects and restaurants selling local African, Indian, Portuguese and Pakistani cuisine.
