Tangier has some really nice places. Old thirties style hotels with great views, most of these are on the waterfront, with the exception of the Continental. You will also find a wide variety of small cheap places in the Medina.

The view from the terrace is great, but be sure to get a room with a window facing outside. It's at rue Dar-l-Baroud, but you can't miss it if you come from the port and go into the Medina. It's not as expensive as it looks, but not one of the cheapest places.
