Getting There in MerzougaEdit This
If you are planning a trip to Merzouga, getting there is going to be something you will want to work out properly. Just like traveling to any other destination, getting to Merzouga requires planning to ensure that you have a trouble-free journey. Here are a few suggestions you can use when planning a trip to this small village in Morocco.
Merzouga is situated in Morocco, which is in the north of Africa and is bordered by Algeria and Mauritania. You will first need to get to Morocco and then make your way to Merzouga.
Once you are in Morocco, head over to Marrakech and take a drive to Erfoud in the east. This drive will take 2 days; you might want to stop for the night in Ouarzazate. You will need to drive another 14 km to get to Rissani and take the road that goes southeast through the village to Merzouga.
If you are coming in from Fez, you will need to drive south to reach Erfoud. It will take a day’s drive to get to Erfoud. Once you are in Erfoud, you will need to follow the instructions above to get to Merzouga.
You can take a share taxi form Rissani to Merzouga; this will cost you approximately 12 Dihrams. However, if you do not want to share the taxi, you will have to pay 60 Dihrams. You might want to avoid the guides in Erfoud and Rissani who promise to get you to Merzouga for 5 Dihrams. They will leave you stranded, and it will cost you a lot to get back to town.
