Hotel Sahara is a nice and clean hotel in an oasis at 0 m far from sand dunes run by helplful and multi-language staff. Berber music is played at night and they organize open bivouacs and tours on camels and around Erg Chebbi by 4x4 to visit nomad families.

This is a good camping place under the biggest palm trees of the region and reasonable prices.

Haven La Chance Desert Hotel is located by the sand dunes near Hassi Lybed- 4 km north of Merzouga village. It is owned and operated by an American and a local Berber so the hotel strives to be modern and clean while preserving local architecture and building materials. Chez Gerard et Francoise

Near Merzouga (1 1/2 km south from town), is my personal favorite. You can either camp out in the dunes or stay in a wonderfully decorated room. The restaurant serves delicious, huge Moroccan meals.

While it was a very nice hotel, it was destroyed in the floods of may, 2006. I am sure it will be rebuilt but as of today (December 2, 2006), it is not available.

Yasmina is a nice place, sometimes in the wintertime near a lake with flamingos. For the birdlovers it is an interesting place, because the desertsparow is living here. Yasmina has very comfortable rooms, nicely decorated in modern moroccan style. Of course every room has a shower with hot and cold water and WC.
