Kasungu town is found in the central region of the country and is 124km from Lilongwe, the capital city of Malawi. It is within the Kasungu-Lilongwe plain which has fertile soils suitable for arable crops and the town is mostly surrounded by tobacco  farmers.Kasungu is a home of the first president of the Republic of Malawi, the late Dr Hastings Kamuzu Banda who was famous for his good agricultural policies.

The town is well linked to others interesting sites such as the Lifupa Lodge in the Kasungu National Park several kilometers to the west, the Kamuzu Acadamy grammar school popurally known as the Elton of Africa-built by the first president, Kasungu Chipala hill, the restaurants that offers mostly the real Malawian dishes, Chulu,Lukwa,Mphomwa  and Njombwa areas where the tranditional dance "Gulewankulu"for the Chewa people can be viewed dancing during some occassions. It is a must for any visitor to see this traditional dance.
