History in Malindi

To learn more about the history of Malindi, visit Malindi Museum at the House of Columns and buy very useful and interesting booklets etc, and see some exhibits. The House is close to the Beach Road curio market. The museum is at present in a state of being rehoused in the recentlu renovated old District Officer's Premises (a historic building) and more exhibits can be seen there, but until the official opening there are no staff. You can become a member of the Museum Society at the House of Columns which gives you free access to all the Museums of Kenya coastal sites. Visitor memberbershp is KShs600/-. The sites which have charges where you can gain free access are:-
Malindi Museum, Malindi
Vasco da Gamma pillar, Malindi
Gedde Ruins, near Watamu
Fort jesus, Mombasa.
There is no charge for the Portuguese Chapel and Cemetry in Malindi at present..
