Kisumu is the 3rd largest city in Kenya and also the capital of Nyanza province. It is also the largest port city on the shores of Lake Victoria. The city started in 1906 when the railway to Uganda was under construction.
The city has been experiencing some fast growth of late, recovering from the post elections violence.
Tourist activities include a ride in Lake Victoria on a speed boat. This service is found in Dunga beach among others. There are also some parks not so far from the city centre, like the Ndere Islands just to name a few.
There are enough places for accommodation in the city. For high class places, there is Sunset Hotel, Imperial among others. Budget traveller has even more choices.
If you are a shopaholic, then you must not miss a visit to Nakumatt mega city, Tusky's western mall plaza among others. Entertainment spots are more than enough. Good food restaurants can be found next to the beach. All transportation modes are available from air to tuk tuk.
