Edit ThisThe Gambia is an excellent place to go on a fishing, birding or beach trip.
It's relative proximity to Europe makes it ideal for a getaway in the sun and it is very rich in bird and aquatic life.
Unfortunately many of the larger game species have long since dissapeared but you will still find crocodile and hippos in the rivers and monkeys in the trees.
And the beaches are excellent although there is a continuing problem with sea erosion which is being addressed by the Gambian government by investment in preventative measures.
