In Addis Ababa, good accommodation is rare and pricey.  The Sheraton costs $400/night, and is very luxurious.  Everything else is a big step down.  The Queen of Sheba is a pleasant hotel for $129/night.  It offers big rooms, free airport transfers, and breakfast.  It is clean and the service is pleasant and helpful.  It's not far out of the city center on the main road to the East.  Other decent options include the Dessalegn and the Hotel de Leopol.  The Taitu Hotel is old and charming but the plumbing and other facilities are decaying.

The Lion Hotel is located in Fiche, about 2 hours north of Addis on the road to Barhar Dar. The Baro Hotel is located on a hilltop overlooking Addis Ababa .
