The places of interest are all within a distance of less than 5 kilometers of the Dahlak Hotel, Hotel Central and Red Sea hotel but the high temperatures do not invite visitors to walk for more then 30 minutes during daytime. It is essential to take a water bottle on every trip when traveling to or walking in the surroundings of Massawa and the Dahlak islands.

In the northern part of Massawa you can enjoy the white sandy beach of Gurgusum and Hamasien.

The beaches are clean and uncrowded. It is a good place to sunbathe, for swimming, sailing, (scuba) diving or snorkeling.
