Some people might assume that kids would get bored with the many historical areas and museums of Cairo, but that's not the case. On the contrary, the archaeological sites and museums are so dynamic and interactive that kids are usually enthralled for hours, even if they aren't huge fans of history. There are so many famous places to choose from, including the Valley of the Kings, the Temples of Luxor, the Pyramids of Giza and more. Your entire family will be impressed by the sheer size and energy of these places. The Egyptian Museum is another place that you can't miss. With its shocking collection of ornate, pure gold jewelry and rows of royal mummies with their faces revealed, you and your family are sure to have a fantastic time. Especially intriguing is the collection of Tutankhamun.

Nile Cruises

For a reasonable price, your entire family can get a different perspective of Cairo from the water. It's an especially beautiful thing to do in the evening, when you can see all the lights from the city and the pyramids along the riverbanks. You can also cruise to a tiny island in the Nile called Qanatar with its amusement park activities, picnic areas and ferris wheels. It takes about an hour and a half.

Khan al Khalili

Khan al Khalili is a huge and very popular market among both tourists and locals. For a real Egyptian experience, you should go there at least once. There are tons of bargains to be found, but you have to haggle a bit to get what you want. That's just part of their culture. Kids will be entertained by this marketplace. It's colorful and eclectic, filled with interesting sights, sounds and smells, just be careful not to get lost as the huge network of alleyways can get confusing. Don't miss the shops filled with cheap gold and silver items.
