Vila Nova Sintra is the only town on Brava, reached after about 15 minutes travel from the port Furna. It has about 1,500 inhabitants. It has little to offer a tourist, except the normal services of a town. The post office and the bank are at the central Praça (square). There is a Catholic and a Nazarene church as well as a few restaurants and hotels. The poet Eugénio Tavares lived here
