Nightlife and Entertainment in Douala

Edit This

If you want a good time in Africa, then Douala nightlife needs to be experienced. This is a city that in many senses never sleeps and you can party any night of the week. The local people are so warm and welcoming that the atmosphere is always pleasant. In some places be wary that you will have to adhere to certain dress codes, but for the most part Douala nightlife is a relaxed affair.

The Broadway

The riotous atmosphere of this bar is provided by a truly eclectic range of live bands that play almost every night ranging across the jazz, blues, R and B and African genres. Thus this place could be called a restaurant and a cabaret bar. The clientele is free to eat, drink, dance and be merry and people are so friendly that you won't spend too long on your own if you arrive on your own. This hip joint is located at Rue Toyota, Bonapriso, Douala.

The Senat

With its astonishing range of single malt whiskey, you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd found a little part of Scotland in the midst of Africa. The live jazz played by the tight house band is a joy to listen to and has the bonus of being led by a man who looks like a young Miles Davis. You'll also find a truly superlative restaurant in The Senat which serves up genuine local dishes that will make your mouth water--definitely a highlight of Douala nightlife.

The Club

Generally more upscale than a lot of its competitors, The Club has been renovated in recent times but has retained its chic charm. You'll find cold "33" beer served all night and a selection of pool tables to challenge your friends on. Live music sometimes happens at this venue.

Mega Slots

An exciting combination of nightspot and casino, Mega Slots boasts two floors of gaming machines, bars and dance floors. Fun as this place is, it is something of a meat market with aggressive females looking for men. If you don't want any of this sort of action then you're best advised to stay away from the disco area and just have a flutter on the slot machines.

La Cigale

Proving that live music is really the lifeblood of Douala nightlife, La Cigale presents a stunning array of singers, musicians and performers. The advantage of La Cigale is that there aren't too many girls who will want to chase you for money, allowing you to just relax and enjoy the music.
